After-School Care
After-school Care 3:45 p.m.-5:45 p.m.
General Information
After-school Care Staff is ready to receive students each afternoon at 3:45 p.m.
Fee: The charge for After-school Care is $6 an hour and time is billed in 15 minute increments.
*Families who need to utilize Before-school Care on a regular basis, but find the cost prohibitive, should contact Dallas Bauer, Director of Extended Day Programs, for possible financial assistance.
Late Fee: After-school Care ends promptly at 5:45 p.m. Please be considerate by picking up your child on time. A late fee of $1 per minute will be charged after 5:45.
*For your child’s safety and your peace of mind, any student not directly supervised by a parent or designated adult within 15 minutes of school or an extracurricular activity ending, will be signed in to After-school Care.
Sign Out: For their safety, students are not released from After-school Care until an Extended Day staff member makes visual contact with a parent or other person designated to pick the student up.
What to Expect
Healthy Snack: Each day, students have several healthy snacks to choose from. These choices typically include fresh fruit, yogurt, popcorn, granola bars, cheese and crackers, peanut butter and crackers, and raisins.
Play and Social Time: Each day, students have 20-30 minutes outside where they are be able to play and/or socialize.
Academic Time: Every student participating in After-school Care, with the exception of Pre-Kindergarten, is guaranteed a specific amount of Academic time in which the classroom atmosphere is conducive to completing school work. During academic time, a scholar’s priority is to work on homework. Once homework is completed, a scholar may chose to read, write or work on supplemental work.
The length of academic time varies by grade level.
Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: 30 minutes
3rd – 5th Grade: 45 minutes
Middle School: 60 minutes.
Structured Free Time: Students spend the last portion of After-school Care enjoying structured free time. This is a time where students play or socialize with friends and/or spend time doing activities they enjoy on their own. This time often includes more time outside!
*In recognition of students’ hard work during the week, special snacks are served on Fridays and Academic time is replaced with special activities such as a movies, arts and crafts projects, organized games outside, and gym time.
