After-School Care

After-school Care 3:35 p.m.-5:25 p.m.

General Information

After-school Care Staff is ready to receive students each afternoon at 3:35 p.m.

Fee: The charge for after-school care is $6 an hour, which is billed in 15 minute increments. Late fee: After-school care ends promptly at 5:25 p.m. A late fee of $1 per minute will be charged after 5:25.

Please note: Any unsupervised student will be signed in to after-school care within 10 minutes of a school or extracurricular activity ending, for his or her safety. Sign out: Students are signed out of after-care each day. No student will be released without a confirmed verbal or visual contact of a parent/guardian by a staff member. Please notify the director if someone unfamiliar to the after-care staff plans to pick up your child. The director can be reached by e-mail at dhuckins@topekacollegiate.org or by phone at 228-0490.

What to Expect

Each day, students have a healthy snack. These choices typically include fresh fruit, yogurt, granola bars, cheese and crackers, peanut butter and crackers, and raisins.

Students have 20-30 minutes of physical activity where they are able to play and/or socialize.

Every student participating in after-school care, with the exception of Pre-Kindergarten, is given time for academic studies. During academic time, your student's priority is to work on his or her homework. Once homework is completed, students may choose to read, write or work on supplemental work.
