CLASSROOM POLICIES

HOMEWORK

If an assignment is not finished in class, it is homework, and is due at the beginning of the hour the next day.
Papers will be graded in class by the student. The paper will be reviewed and evaluated by the teacher.

MAKE-UP FOR HOMEWORK

Make-up for absence must be submitted by the third day after the absence for full credit. If absent for more than one day, one additional day will be allowed for each additional day absent.
Late papers (no absence involved) will be accepted for half credit for two days after the due date.
It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements for missed work.
If a student knows in advance that he or she will be absent for a vacation, appointment, or other planned absence, it is the student’s responsibility to have all assignments completed upon return to class. They will be accepted for half credit for two days after return to class.

GRADES

Grades will be computed on the basis of percentage of total points accumulated from tests, projects, daily grades, quizzes, and notebook. Grades will be computed as follows:

Over 100% = A+ 74% - 76% = C

96% - 100% = A 70% - 73% = C-

90% - 95% = A- 67% - 69% = D+

87% - 89% = B+ 64% - 66% = D

84% - 86% = B 60% - 63% = D-

80% - 83% = B- Under 60% = F

77% - 79% = C+

CALCULATOR

Students needing to borrow a calculator will need to spend 1 of their daily points to do so. On a test, the cost is 5 points. Bring your calculator!

TESTS

Test dates are posted on the website and on the assignment board in the classroom.

DAILY WORK GRADE

A daily grade of 5 points will be awarded to each student every day. In order to receive a 5, the following guidelines must be met:

Assignment is complete and

a. done in pencil.

b. checked in red, correct solutions written in red.

has heading, including name and assignment, in upper right corner.
is done neatly.
all work is shown on assignment paper. (Scratch paper is not used). Each step is shown vertically, with final solution below work. Answers should be circled when work is shown. Skip lines between problems when there are many steps.
all 2 dimensional graphs are on graph paper.
rulers are used to make straight lines.

All materials (including calculator and math notebook) are brought to class.
The student is ready for class when the bell rings. The student is on time and has all materials (assignment, calculator, template, book open) out and ready.
In the opinion of the teacher, significant effort was made on each problem.
Study time is used wisely.
