Dear Friends,

Wow! Can you believe it is almost time for school again! I am writing you this letter to inform you that you will be in my class this year! I am very excited about that and I hope you are too!

Here are some things you may want to know before school starts. You will need to purchase a backpack, without wheels, to use each day. You will be carrying class projects and a folder home daily. For your math tool kit, you will need an old sock or wash cloth and the following coins: 20 pennies, 10 nickels, 10 dimes, and 8 quarters. Each afternoon we will have a snack break. Please bring something nutritious, no candy please!

The school picnic is Tuesday, August 14^th from 6:00 – 8:00. The first day of school is Wednesday, August 15^th, 8:30 – Noon. Please bring a picture of your family to hang in the hallway.

Our theme to start the year is the Solar System and Space Exploration. We will identify and learn all the planets, talk about recent space shuttle missions and more! If you have any books to share, mark them and bring them in!

I look forward to blasting off into 2^nd Grade with you!
