Class- “American Idol” Activity-read excerpts from Washington’s Farewell Address. Keep in mind that Washington addressed political parties, credit/debt, and foreign policy in his address.

Tuesday

Class- Discuss the importance of a peaceful transition of power between President Washington and President John Adams.

Examine the complex issues related to the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798.

Wednesday

Class- Quiz Ch. 9.3

HW- Study for the test.

 

Thursday

Class- Review key terms and prepare short answers from the following questions:

  1. Compare and contrast how Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton would describe the roles of federal and state governments.
  2. Discuss the differences between the Democratic-Republicans and the Federalists parties.
  3. Describe how events in Europe in the 1790’s affected the United States.
  4. Explain the significance of President Washington’s Farewell Address. Be sure to cover the three main points of his speech we discussed in class.
