Class- Students will create 7-10 questions for peer evaluation about the history and workings of the United Nations.

Class- Students will spend time in the computer lab researching their country to begin a draft of the position paper.

Thursday

Class- Students will exchange UN questions for completion.

Teacher Note: The afternoon social studies class will have the opportunity to participate in a United Nations video chat featuring Tonya Frichner, North American Representative to the United Nations Permanent Forum for Indigenous Issues. Ms. Frichner, a citizen of the Onondaga Nation of the Iroquois Confederacy, is the founder and president of the American Indian Law Alliance and the Vice Chair of the Seventh Generation Fund for Indian Development -- nonprofit indigenous organizations dedicated to supporting human rights and social justice for indigenous peoples. She is widely known for her dedicated work as an attorney, educator, advocate and longtime leader on behalf of indigenous peoples' rights throughout North America and beyond. This live video chat is the second in a series to provide teachers and students the opportunity to learn about the rights of indigenous peoples. (From Cyberschoolbus.un.org)
