 Social Studies-Class Summaries

6th Grade- Thanks to Mr. Gordon Self, who spent time with students sharing his knowledge about Canada. The children enjoyed Nanaimo bars and learned about Canadian government and resources. Currently, we are busy learning about our neighbor to the south, Mexico.

7th Grade- Students were fascinated to learn about new evidence surrounding Christopher Columbus’ origins. This has led to thoughtful discussion about reliability of sources and the importance of perspective in history. Also, congratulations to all the students for their hard work on our assemblies!

8th Grade- Moving on from the Era of Good Feelings students are learning about the defining issues of Andrew Jackson’s presidency: states’ rights, renewal of the National Bank, and his policy toward Native American Indians. Also, next week, we will begin preparing for the upcoming Model UN in March.
