Hope & Inspiration Coffeehouse

Another youth showcase, and one involving more than just visual art, is the Hope & Inspiration Coffeehouse, a fundraiser for Easter Seals Capper Foundation.

The coffeehouse from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Topeka Collegiate School, 2200 S.W. Eveningside Drive, will have works of art by area students on display but also will feature young people as entertainers.

Those slated to perform include guitarist Jacob Hodge, pianist Drew Hanson and guitarist Joe Schoonover, as well as some spoken word artists performing poetry.

Lazio's Coffee Bar and Roasterie has donated the coffee, and cookies will be served. Students who have entered their art, poetry and music will be eligible to win a $100 Savings Bond courtesy of Silver Lake Bank.

Admission is $5, and Julie Smrha, Capper's marketing coordinator, said proceeds will help fund the foundation's Scholarship Assistance Campaign to help narrow the gap between the cost of services and what families are able to pay.
