A veteran independent school administrator will become Topeka Collegiate’s next Head of School – the fourth to serve at the school – on July 1, 2006. David Hudspeth will meet with media representatives at a news conference on Tuesday, February 21 at 10 a.m. at Topeka Collegiate School, 2200 S.W. Eveningside Drive. David Hudspeth was most recently Head of School at Dore Academy, a K-12 school for students with learning disabilities in Charlotte, North Carolina. Under Hudspeth’s leadership, Dore earned two separate accreditations in a single year, one from SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), the other from SAIS (Southern Association of Independent Schools). Both agencies accredit schools as does ISACS (Independent Schools Association of the Central States), which accredits Topeka Collegiate School. Before taking over the helm at Dore, Hudspeth gained strong administrative experience serving as Assistant Headmaster and Head of Middle School at Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock, Arkansas and as Assistant Headmaster and Head of Lower School at Lowcountry Day School on Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Earlier in his career, Hudspeth taught science at schools serving students from K-12. .
