Topeka Collegiate School

Topeka Collegiate School's basketball teams won an honor recently. The Parochial League chose the school for the Fred Dumas Basketball Sportsmanship Award, voted on by league referees.

In addition to the sportsmanship award, the eighth-grade girls' team won both the regular season trophy and the first-place trophy in the end-of-season tournament.

The school is eagerly anticipating a telephone call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Topeka Collegiate has been chosen to participate in the Peace Corps' International Phone Call event during Peace Corps week. Middle school students will have the opportunity to speak with Peace Corps volunteer Elizabeth Ault, who is serving in El Salvador.

Ault is the sister of eighth-grader Maggie Ault.

The school will celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday at 8:30 a.m. Friday with a special assembly from kindergartners, who will perform Dr. Seuss' "The Sneetches."

Other students will celebrate by dressing for the day as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters.

Discovery Day is from 8:45 to 10 a.m. March 6. This is the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten roundup.
