Topeka Collegiate School Auction

The annual auction is a festive, fun event that involves the entire school community. This year's auction: Celebrate Auction 2008! was Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the downtown Ramada. Each family was asked to support the auction by purchasing two tickets and by donating one auction item. Proceeds from the auction, along with Annual Fund, go into the day-to-day operation of the school. Together, the Annual Fund and the auction account for 12% of our annual operating budget.
2008 Auction
What a fabulous auction! Celebration was in the air on Saturday night--delicious food, good friends, beautiful decorations, music, and of course, lots of wonderful things for sale. Special thanks to Auction Co-Chairs Kim Baker and Laura Schwerdt for working to make the evening so successful! Kudos, too, to Acquisition Co-Chairs Debra Ricks and Tracey Goering. Our school owes these four hard-working volunteers a huge thank you for the hours and hours of work they undertook cheerfully, with healthy doses of humor and caffeine!

Auction night revenue (gross) is just over $170,000. What an accomplishment! Congratulations and thank you to everyone who raised a bid number or signed a bid sheet! The generosity of our school family is phenomenal. It takes all of us working together to accomplish this for our children. Auction proceeds, combined with Annual Fund donations, make up 12% of our annual operating budget. The auction is not only a fun evening, but critical to our school.
Thank you to the battalion of volunteers, far too numerous to mention, who did everything from acquiring auction items to cataloguing every one of them, to displaying them in the beautifully decorated ballroom. Clearly, no detail was too small to be overlooked by this auction team.
One of the highlights of the evening was the professional development section of the auction, which raised $28,000 for teacher and staff continuing education. Thank you to all who raised your paddle or wrote your number on a bid sheet. YOU helped raise money that will directly benefit all our students.
