We have planned a full day of all things child including music, games, dance, activity, and art. It is a tradition we all look forward to.
Notes for parents:
All students should dress for the activities- shorts and t-shirts and athletic shoes.
Refillable water bottle and sunscreen is a must as we will be outside in the afternoon.
Lower school students should bring a towel or blanket for their book buddy lunch on the courtyard.
Day’s Schedule:
8:30: We will begin with a musical assembly led by our Prek, K, and 1st grade students. This will be attended by all students, guests are welcome to attend. Guests will depart after the Assembly for the reminder of the morning as children will be busy for remainder of the morning student will be engaged in activities throughout the building.
12:15: 5th grade students will be demonstrating the traditional May Pole on our Courtyard.. Guests are welcome to come watch- bring a blanket or lawn chair.
1:00: Mr. Drane has planned a spectacular Field Day which held on our north soccer field. We need many volunteers for this to run smoothly, so thank you for those who are able to help. Guests are welcome to come watch- bring a blanket or lawn chair.
2:45: Traditional 8th grade vs Faculty Kick-ball game on north Field. Student body sit, drink water and cheer on the “competitors”.
3:30: Children will be dismissed. They will have many new memories to share with you, and they will be tired.
It is a full day of fun and child-centered learning and play. It is one of our most favorite Beyond the Book traditions

Halloween Tradition Logistics: The morning will begin with a music assembly in the gym, starting at 8:30 and featuring the early childhood classes. All students in grades prekindergarten through grade 8 will participate. Following the program the annual Halloween Parade will begin, Parents and guests are asked to watch from the courtyard. The students and staff will move from the gym, cross the courtyard between Cottages C and D, and re-enter the building at the southeast doors near the playground. Classroom activities will follow for students and teachers, with dismissal at noon.

The theme is a celebration of Topeka Collegiate’s 40th Anniversary. Of course with this group of students there are several twists and turns. Several faculty members are expected to make cameo appearances, as well. It sounds like it will be a very interesting and entertaining morning.

Teams of students from grades four through eight will compete, but each is scored individually and recognized at an awards ceremony following the morning testing sessions. The qualifying preliminary school tests will take place under the direction of Mr. Ken Park, math chair.
